It was a film starting actors Anthony Hopkins and xx xx but it was originally a book by Philip Roth. It brings up the question of the ethics and the human and spiritual consequences of "passing".
"Passing" you ask? You can join the Black Americans - Jewish Americans Book Club and participate in a session discussing it on June 5 and/or June 26.at https://bildnercenter.rutgers.edu/events/upcoming-events/icalrepeat.detail/2024/06/05/134/-/black-americans-jewish-americans-book-club-session-one
The film left people in stunned silence after it ended, in the theatre where I saw it. There was no discussion. For me, it was the catalyst to pull together many pieces about skin color and ethnicity that populate(d) my family and have affected me as a lighter-skinned multiracial woman with African heritage.
Join the discussion and learn something new and/or put a voice to things you've not discussed aloud before!
