Once again, we are hosting a Jewish solidarity tent at the Cooper Family Seventeenth Freedom Festival in San Diego! This year is our third year and we are excited. This is our opportunity to bring forth the voices of African American Jews, highlight the diversity of Israel and the Jewish people, and to stand in joyful, resilient solidarity with San Diego’s African American community. This year’s celebration takes place on Saturday, June 21 at Memorial Park (2975 Oceanview Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92113).
Community Partnership
In past years, Playing Together Project has been joined by Anti-Defamation League of San Diego, members of Temple Emanu-El of San Diego and iIsrael of San Diego, Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center and The Butterfly Project.
If you are interested in providing materials (brochures, flyers, handouts) or coming to staff the tent for a few hours and chat with people who come by, please email us at barrett[at]playingtogether.org
Partner with a Donation
You can also donate and help us purchase copies of the books “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew” by Emanuel Acho & Noa Tishby as well as “Zionism and the Black Church” by Dumisani Washington – to have on hand for visitors to our exhibit tent. Every $100 purchases 5 books – Jewish Solidarity @ Juneteenth
